Upper Dir District is located in Malakand Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is in the northern part of Pakistan. It borders Chitral, Afghanistan, Swat, and Lower Dir. The district shares a 45-km border with Afghanistan. It is located in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is known for its Mountains, lush green valleys, and natural beauty. The most beautiful River, Panjkora, flows in the valleys of the District of Upper Dir.

The population of Upper Dir is majority Pashtun and speaks Pashto. The economy is mainly based on Agriculture, forestry, and tourism potential. The district faces challenges in infrastructure, Education, and healthcare. The majority of the people in the district are Muslims. Due to a lack of employment opportunities, a large number of people are employed in private institutions or are unemployed. Women usually share the work with their men. They work with men in the agriculture sector in addition to their household duties.

1- Kumrat Valley

Kumrat Valley is situated in Upper Dir District and lies between Dir and Swat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. A popular tourist destination known for its lush green meadows and snow-capped peaks. Kumrat Valley is also a famous destination for hikers and nature lovers, offering a range of outdoor activities such as Camping, fishing, and rafting. It is around 45 45-minute drive to Kumrat valley from the town of Thal on the banks of Panjkora River.

Every Year, thousands of tourists from different areas of Pakistan and abroad visit Kumrat Valley for its greenery and Cool weather.

 The beauty of the Kumrat valley Deodar forest is quickly disappearing because local people say they have no other option to get fuel and cooking during the Winter Season. If the deforestation of Deodar forest is not stopped, it involves many risks like loss of natural beauty and tourism, threat to Wildlife, increased risk of floods and soil erosion, and Reduced water Supply.

    Ushairi Valley, also known as Ushairi Pass or Ushairi Dara, is situated in Upper Dir District and is 25km away from the main town of Darora. It is the most beautiful valley after the Kumrat Valley. It is famous for its lush green forest and river flow.

  Nehag Valley, also referred to locally as Nehag Dara, is a scenic valley located in Upper Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. Nehag Valley, nestled in the mountainous heart of Upper Dir. Nehag Valley is famous for its green forest and wildflowers. In spring and summer, the valley bursts into a vibrant palette of green. While in winter, in a snow blanket and white wonderland.

 Sultan khail Valley is a Green Treasure of the Hindu kush. Sultan Khail is bordered by the Panjkora River. With a Climate, the Area experiences Winter with temperatures below -1 and seasonal rainfall. Snow begins in December at higher elevations.

6-Barawal Valley

Barawal Valley is a stunning gem located in the Upper Dir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This valley is close to the Afghan border. 7-Lawari Valley

Lawari Valley

 Lawari Valley is also called Lawari Pass. One of the beautiful valleys in the Dir District. The best time to visit this valley is from May to September for open roads. Winter visits are possible via the tunnel, but delays are expected due to snow.
